The first conference dedicated to forensic accounting, titled "Perspectives on the Development of Forensic Accounting Capacities: Challenges for the Public and Corporate Sectors" was held at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Belgrade, on June 7–8, 2024. The event brought together over 100 participants—including experts, researchers, practitioners, and representatives of relevant institutions from Serbia and the region.

The keynote speakers were Full Professor Tina Vuko from the Department of Accounting and Auditing, Faculty of Economics, University of Split, and Assistant Professor Tena Prelec from the Centre for Advanced Studies Southeast Europe, University of Rijeka.

The conference continued through four thematic panels covering a wide range of topics—from the role of forensic accountants in fraud detection, through the efficiency of public institutions and the role of audit, to specific corporate challenges such as consolidated reporting, business valuation, and information security aspects.

The second day was dedicated to the Case Study Challenge, a student competition in solving real-world problems designed by Ernst & Young. The teams demonstrated a high level of analytical thinking, forensic skills, and creativity. Two top-performing teams were awarded—one from the master’s program and one from undergraduate studies.

The conference achieved its key objective: connecting academia, institutions, and the business sector to strengthen capacities in the fight against financial fraud, while promoting forensic accounting as an interdisciplinary and socially significant field.
